Written by William Shakespeare.

A major new production of Shakespeare’s most popular play marks the exciting pairing of the world-renowned director Trevor Nunn, whose theatrical achievements span three decades, and the illustrious Old Vic Theatre. This is Trevor Nunn’s first production of Hamlet since his Royal Shakespeare Company production in 1970, which starred Alan Howard in the title role and Helen Mirren as Ophelia. This production takes a fresh look at the play through contemporary eyes with an ensemble of the country’s best young and upcoming acting talent, and in the process thrusting Ben Whishaw, the 23 year-old who plays the title role, into the public eye.
